Dr Emma Tonin, BSc (Hons), DClinPsy

Emma is a highly qualified and skilled Clinical Psychologist who has been working

in the field for 20 years. With experience in the fields of neuropsychology, brain

injury and dementia Emma gained a place at Royal Holloway university in 2000 to

study for her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. After graduation Emma worked full

time for the NHS in a wide range of settings from GP practices to inpatient wards.

Emma has now decided to specialise in mild to moderate psychological distress in adults. She has a broad range of interests including treating those with sleep problems, stress, relationship difficulties, OCD, depression and anxiety disorders. "I started out at age 16 wanting to be Clarice Starling from Silence of the Lambs," says Emma "but after my training I realised real people living in the real world are much more interesting!".

Emma will work with you to gain a joint understanding of your difficulties, be that struggling to adjust to new family dynamics after having a baby, overcoming a traumatic event such as a car accident or learning how to live with a long term health condition. You will then together decide on the best course of treatment to help with these difficulties, using your knowledge of your life and difficulties and Emma's experience and understanding of the theories and treatments psychology can offer. Emma aims to help you clarify and reach the goals that you have for your life, unencumbered by whatever issues you feel are holding you back.

Emma is a member of the British Psychological Society, Division of Clinical Psychology and the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists, and is registered with the Health Care Professionals Council.
